About Sugarfoot Rentals
We’re Paul and Carrie Hicks, and we’re the hosts for Sugarfoot Rentals — an owners’ cooperative of five Gulf-front condos at Summer House on Romar Beach in Orange Beach, Alabama.
These aren’t investment properties managed by a distant company. Each unit is someone’s second home. We live in them with our families, we update them the way we want them for ourselves, and we host guests the same way we’d want to be hosted.
How the Co-op Works
Sugarfoot Rentals started with our own penthouse, Sugarfoot Escape (1502B). Over time, friends and neighbors who own other units at Summer House joined us. We pool resources where it makes sense — cleaning supplies, linens, towels, and the technology that runs the booking site — while each owner keeps full control of their own condo.
When you book, your rental agreement is with the owner of the specific unit you reserve. Carrie and Paul act as the central points of contact and hosts for the group, so you always know who you’re talking to.
Book direct and you skip the platform fees. You also get the benefit of owners who care about the details because these are the places we love.
The Five Units

Every unit is a 3-bedroom, 2-bath Gulf-front condo that sleeps 8, with a private balcony, in-unit washer and dryer, and a full kitchen. Summer House sits at 25020 Perdido Beach Boulevard. The buildings completed a major renovation in May 2025. The beach is private to the property, and the pools and hot tub are on site.
A Little About Us
We bought our dream penthouse for our family and named her Sugarfoot Escape. From there, the co-op grew naturally as other owners saw the value of hosting as friends and neighbors rather than handing their homes to a traditional management company focused mainly on occupancy numbers.
We’ve been hosting guests at Summer House for over five years and have welcomed more than 300 families in that time.
